chat2vault Privacy Policy

chat2vault is a browser extension that saves AI chat conversations from claude.ai and chatgpt.com into your local Obsidian vault or as Markdown files.
What data the extension accesses
- The text content of the conversation page you are currently viewing on claude.ai / chatgpt.com, only when you click a button in the extension popup.
- Your extension settings (vault name, folder, filename template, tags, license key), stored via
chrome.storage.sync.
What the extension does with it
- Converts the conversation to Markdown entirely inside your browser.
- Writes the result to your clipboard, a local file download, or an
obsidian:// link that opens your local Obsidian app.
What the extension does NOT do
- It does not send conversation content to any server owned by us or by third parties.
- It does not collect analytics, telemetry, or personal information.
- It does not read pages other than the supported chat sites.
License validation (Pro)
If you enter a Pro license key, the key alone is sent to our payment provider's license API to check validity. No conversation content is included in that request.
